London 2025
In July of 2025, I went on a life changing trip to the United Kingdon with some of my peers from the Manship School at LSU. This program called the "Manship Global Sports Showcase," allowed me the opportunity to view sports on a global scale. Through this program, I was able to attend the British Grand Prix and Wimbledon Championships, and tour the Arsenal stadium. In addition to attending these sporting events, I was also able to meet international sports media representatives from Sky Sports and Pitch Soho Golf.
This was my very first time out of the country and my very first exposure to these sports. I am not a big sports fan in general, or at least I wasn't before this trip. I joined this program initially as a way to travel out of the country. I had no idea what was to come.
The intention behind this trip was to learn about sports from a global perspective. Out in the U.K., I created social media content as well as informative graphics to share online. This program pushed me out of my comfort zone by combining something that I do frequently, journalism, with something that I wasn't familiar with in the slightest: sports.
I did endless research of the topics that I was reporting on to ensure that I got everything right. I went from not knowing what Formula One was to tuning in every weekend to watch the races. I also enjoyed being immersed into the community of Wimbledon and interviewing people there.
Not only did I learn about sports, I was also a part of a wonderful community service opportunity while abroad. I, alongside my peers, prepared sandwiches to pass out to the homeless. It always feels good to give back to my community, but there was something so personal and gratifying about being able to support a community outside of my own.
I truly fell in love with London and I miss it every single day.

London Content
On this trip, I curated content for Instagram and TikTok to help inform people of the sporting events I attended as well as showing what my days looked like while being abroad. My peers and I created lots of shared content and helped each other build off of many things so there are many pieces on our group page (@manshipglobalsports) that are a team effort and I loved the opportunity to work together. The content listed below are all pieces that I worked on individually as part of my assignments for an individual grade.

Overview
I was able to go on this trip with the help of the Gilman Scholarship. This scholarship helped me pay a big portion of my trip which made it more accessible for me. I never would've though that a trip like this would've been within my reach. I am so grateful to have such a eye opening experience that I will never forget about. My time in the U.K. was so surreal and the memories made on my trip were a highlight of my college experience. This experience has has inspired me to dream even bigger because no dream is unattainable.
